Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; 6 think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.
As humans, we wrestle God with the very gift He has given us – cognitive reasoning and problem solving. This higher-level cognitive process tries to tell us that we know best; however, this is a lie. We are part of His creation and under His authority and ruling.
During my reading and digging today, I learned that the word “trust” in this verse means “to lie helpless, facedown.” Just sit back and think about that for a moment. Let that wash over you if you will! Have you ever placed a visual to this verse? Have you ever visualized yourself lying facedown before Holy God waiting for His commands? This picture clearly represents a servant’s heart.
Let us all seek this type of commitment and obedience to God. I pray that in all things we will trust in Him by surrendering our control! Don’t give in to the “powers” of your mind-you will fail! God will guide you on the right paths if you would would surrender all! Amen!
Thankful,
